The article highlights poetical works published in “Kommunist” newspaper during the Great Patriotic War. It analyses the poems written by Azerbaijani poets in the years of war. Apart from acclaimed poets of that time, including Samad Vurgun, Suleyman Rustam, Rasul Rza, Mammad Rahim, Osman Sarivalli, young poets such as Bakhtiyar Vahabzade, Gabil Nikbin, Islam Safarli, Huseyn Abbaszade, Gasim Gasimzade, Adil Jabiroglu, Teymur Miralayev and others also regularly published their new poems in “Kommunist”. Most of these poems were devoted to heroism of sons of Azerbaijan in the battles with the fascists, and selfless labor of ordinary people on the home front during the Great Patriotic War.
