THE INFLUENCE OF SIMILAR NATIONAL TRADITIONS ON THE FORMATION OF ARAB AND JEWISH FOLKLORE
Galey ALLAHVERDIEV

Although peoples and nations that have lived in the same or close geographical areas for centuries have their own languages and traditions. There are undeniable similarities between their cultures, folklore and artistic works, and in this regard, the similarity between Arabic oral folk literature and Jewish folklore is inevitable. It should be noted that poetry dominates the oral creativity of both peoples, and this poetry is rich in symbolic images born from symbols and beliefs. In such poetic works, light and darkness, strength and weakness, hard work and laziness are usually expressed in different forms symbols. Like Arabic folklore, Jewish oral literature also contains proverbs, prayers, curses, etc. Although very few of the examples of folklore listed above have survived, such poems are still read in folk rituals and in families.
