Lutpulla Mutellip, a poet, writer and playwright who made important
contributions to the formation and development of Uyghur literature in the 30s and
40s of the 20th century, and was one of the leading intellectuals of contemporary
Uyghur literature who led the national struggle for the freedom of his people.
Lutpulla Mutellip, who was not satisfied with the poems, articles and stage plays he
wrote for the liberation of his people from ignorance and slavery, joined the freedom
struggle and took up arms against the Chinese government at a young age. On
September 18, 1945, Lutpulla Mutellip and his colleagues who bravely fought
against the Kuomintang armies for the freedom and happiness of their people were
brutally killed. In his short life, the revolutionary poet left valuable works to the
Uyghur people and immortal poetic lines that created patriotic feelings in the youth.
