The given article touches upon the famous Azerbaijani poet-patriot Bakhtiyar Vahabzade whose creative work at the end of 80-s – beginning of 90-s of the XX century made for the awakening of national self-consciousness of the Azerbaijani people inspiring them to the struggle for freedom and independence. The author discloses the motives of Turkism which found their deep reflection in the creative activity of the poet. Turkism of B.Vahabzadeh showed itself in his art works, scientific-theoretical opinions, and, as a whole, in all his activity.
